Model Review

What is model review?

Model Review is designed to provide full transparency to the Konstru upload or download process by providing the user a detailed list of the objects Konstru is about to create, update, or delete. The review interface is triggered as the last stage of any upload or download, and user's have the explicitly ability to cancel the Konstru process if they see anything in the Review that is unexpected.

On upload, the goal is to answer the question "What's about to happen to my Konstru model?"

On download, Review aims to let the user know "What's about to happen to their Platform model?"

Review Interface in Detail

Filter Selection during Review

As it's possible for a Konstru Filter to drastically alter the upload/download, users are able to change the applied filter at the top of the Review interface. A change to the filter will trigger a new review, based on the settings of that filter.

If a user needs to create a new filter, they are able to launch the 'Create Filter' web interface directly from the review window. If a recently created Filter is not shown in the drop-down menu, simply refresh the Review interface.

Review By Type

A object type based view of the Konstru model, with number of elements of each type, such as Floor, or Beam or Column listed. This is a great way to verify that you have captured all the objects you wish to address as part of this particular translation.

  • If you only intended to upload a partial model, the number of each object being uploaded should be an indication. You can also check to see if Groups are part of the model being translated.

  • If you have a filter applied that prevent's certain object types from the translation, the 'By Type' review will indicate this via the filter icons

Review By Status

Review by status will parse the current Konstru upload/download via an ID comparison of the local platform model and the Konstru model chosen. This is a great way to figure out what portion of the upload/download will result in new objects in your model, updates objects, or if object will be deleted by the current Konstru download.

The process of comparison of ID's is outlined more detail in the previous section.

As the By Status review uses ID comparison, it's also possible to request Details as to the specific change that will be applied by Konstru by clicking the ? button.

Delete Existing Element's

The process for object deletion via Konstru differ's whether you are uploading or downloading a model. In the case of the Review Interface, the choice to have Konstru make deletions is specific to model downloads.

Deletion on Upload - Object's are deleted from a Konstru model on upload if they have been deleted from the platform model since the last upload. This assumes that the ID of the object that was present in the original Konstru model upload, is no longer present as part of the next update, which results in Konstru removing the object. There is no option for preventing object deletions you've made to the local platform model during the Review process.

Deletion on Download - The checkbox that is found in the Review interface is there to allow the user to confirm that any deletions that may have been made in ANY previous update to the Konstru model (ie from any platform) shall be applied to your platform model. If you'd want to prevent Konstru from ever deleting object's in your model, simply leave the box unchecked.

Review Looks Good!

If the review is considered accurate, the last step is to hit the green button at bottom right! Konstru will then apply the translation to either your platform model

If there is a change that the user would like to make, either to change what objects are being uploaded/downloaded via Groups, or via a Konstru Filter, the user can Cancel the translation at any point via the x at top right of the Review interface.
