How Konstru Works

Why Konstru
Konstru is a BIM interoperability platform, which allows users to transfer data rich 3D models between various 3D BIM and Structural analysis software. It tracks each model transfer as revisions to a cloud database, allowing review of change over the course of the project and the potential to revert the current model to any historic version.
Most users are familiar with the traditional export > import process for transfer of data from one modeling application to another. Common examples are the .dwg and .dxf file formats which are based on basic geometric representations (points/lines/hatches). With the adoption of BIM documentation practices for our building projects, there is a need for high fidelity transfer of model's between software applications , which the geometry/drawing based format's of the past do not provide for.
The renewed interest in the .IFC (Industry Foundation Class) file format in recent years is directly tied to it's ability to capture much of the object based models that define BIM software platforms.
Konstru is designed to go beyond .dxf and even .IFC by giving users a seamless means of translating high fidelity BIM models and associated metadata between Konstru linked platforms. Konstru also by provides a web hosted database and model viewer which allows for managed iteration and version control for your BIM models.

BIM Database
Each time a model is uploaded to Konstru, a version new version of the model is recorded within the Konstru database. Each model object which is uploaded creates an entry in the database, which includes attributes and identification values. When a Konstru model is download to the modeling platform, the database compares these attributes to the local model.
