Model Versions

What are Konstru model versions?

What is a Konstru model version?

The first time you upload to Konstru, you are creating the very first Konstru model version. Every subsequent update to a Konstru model results in the creation of a new version of said model. Each version is stored in a sequential history which can be reviewed at any stage. You can think of a Konstru model version as a snapshot of the model at a point in time.

Revert to Previous Versions

Any historic version of the model can be 'reverted' to, which restores the Konstru model to the state that existed at the chosen version. Reversion can be a useful backup if you make a mistake in an update, and wish to quickly undo those changes.

When you download a model to a platform you are always pulling the most recent version of a model.

What can model versions be used for?

Change Reports

Changes take place during the deign of a building on a daily basis. Some of these changes are minor, and some can have large scale project implications. By uploading a model to Konstru and creating a version of the model, you capture an instance of the model which can be used to compare against other instances, either of the same model, or from a completely different model. The creation of these comparison between models is called a Change Report.

The more often you upload a model to Konstru, the more detailed the Change Reports can be.

Change Reports - Between versions of the same model:

Answers the question "What changed in my model since yesterday/ last week/ last month?"

Great for tracking changes made to a project model over a period of time. Frequency of updates dictate how detailed the results will be. Differing modeling platforms often have different requirements, and thus the comparisons will also have different goals

Change Reports - Between versions of different models:

Answers the question "What are the differences between my SAP model and my Revit model?"

Great for ensuring models are coordinated when required to be, and for validating the information contained in production model.
