Staged and Partial Models
What to know when using Konstru on only portions of a larger model.
Full Model or Partial Model?
The default mode for Konstru is to 'read' all Konstru object types from a BIM model, and add every relevant object present in the model to the Konstru model.
Often the model a users wishes to translate may only be a part or portion of a lager project file. Understanding this fact, Konstru gives users a number of means of extracting partial sets of objects from a BIM model.
Konstru Translates Groups!
The use of object 'Groups' is a critical part of standard digital modeling organizational practices. Any such object Groups that are present in your first uploaded model, will be translated by Konstru into analogous Groups in any platform you download this model to. This allow's any organizational work that has been applied to one BIM/analysis model to be immediately useful in any of the linked models.

Use Groups to Select objects for upload
Additionally, you are able to specify an existing model Group as the set of object you wish to upload to Konstru. In this case, you Konstru model would constitute only the objects in that Group, as well as the Group itself.
If you wish you use a model group to limit the Konstru upload set, you can do so at the 'Create New Version' interface on Upload. Below the version description, you can use the checkbox to indicate a preference for upload of a specific selection, then you are able to select either one of the existing Groups in the model, or an 'Active Selection' (*) which can be any object's you currently have selected when launching Konstru.

Upload in stages

Konstru allows you to upload your model in steps, lets say you want to upload members first. Create a group (or selection filter in Revit) and upload this selection only to get started:

Now its time to add walls, group walls as well and upload the selection. Now in Review Konstru will tell you it will delete all members from your Konstru model and add walls. To change this behavior, to not delete anything uncheck the "Delete existing" option:

And finally, lets add floors the same way. Group them, upload selection and make sure "Delete existing" is unchecked:

Partial Model Updates
The creation of a Konstru model with a Group from the local platform is an excellent way to focus and manage what is uploaded. Subsequent updates to this partial Konstru model should be made using the same platform Group to maintain the integrity of the partial model object set (ie to prevent objects that are not part of this group but are part of the larger model, from being added to the Konstru model).
Changes to the Group, such as deletions or additions, will be transferred to the Konstru model as part of the update based on a comparison of the list of objects present in the original upload Group, versus object present in the update Group.

Application of Filters to create a Partial Konstru Model
Filters are an excellent means of managing what data is transferred between BIM models by Konstru. As such they can also be used to upload only partial set's of elements from a BIM model, similar to Groups. Where the creation of a Group is overly cumbersome for your 'Partial Model' needs, you can apply a custom Filter that achieves the same thing. The difference with Filters is that they are object type specific, thus you can use a Filter to upload all the Beams, Column and Braces from a larger model, but not a specific subset of the Beams, Column and Braces in the larger model.
